You can easily obtain a copy of your police report through the Dallas Police Department's Open Records Unit by appearing at the customer service window located at 1400 Botham Jean.
You will need to know the name of the person involved in the accident, its location, and its date. The police service number from the accident is also helpful.
The Dallas Police Department charges a $6 fee for a copy of a police report, whether requested by mail or in person. If you have questions, call customer service at (214) 671-3345. However, they cannot release information about an accident over the phone.
If you would like to receive a copy of a police report by mail, you should submit a written request to the Open Records Unit, 1400 Botham Jean, Dallas, Texas 75215.
Include your contact information, a money order for $6, and as much information as you have regarding the accident.
You will need the name of the person involved in the accident, the location, or the accident date. If you have it, also include the Police Service Number.
You can get a copy of any Texas accident report online by visiting the Texas Department of Transportation Crash Records Information System, which is available seven days per week, around the clock.
Accident reports are usually available online after 14 days. You can access an uncertified electronic copy of the report for $6 and a certified copy for $8.
If the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department handled your accident, you may get a copy of the report online at the Texas Department of Transportation Crash Records Information System.
You may also get a copy of the report in person or by mail. To receive a copy in person, visit the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department on weekdays at the Frank Crowley Courts Building at 133 North Riverfront Boulevard, First Floor, Dallas, Texas.
To receive a copy by mail, submit a written request, with a $6 money order and self-addressed stamp, to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, Attention: Fiscal, 133 North Riverfront Boulevard, LB-31, Dallas, Texas 75207-4313.
Include your contact information, the name of the person in the accident, the location of the accident, the date of the accident, and any other identifying information you have.
